Lost is back this week... again, and it promises to be a good one. After watching
the trailer for this episode, I went way back to last year's episode "Enter 77" and dug out the photo above. It's a map of
the barracks area that Sayid took from Patchy's comm shack when they discovered the stash of Dharma manuals
hidden in the basement, and it shows a series of service tunnels labeled "Subterranean Passages" at a depth of 20 feet.
What caused me to dig it out was a scene of the upcoming attack on Otherville where Ben
tells Locke to trust him if he wants to get out alive and then reveals what appears to be yet another false wall in his cottage.
I'd be willing to wager quite a bit that this is an entrance to a network of service tunnels between the stations
and is probably how the others seem to be able to move around the island with such ease. So my first offical prediction of
season 4, part 2, is that we will finally get to see how the various Dharma sites are all connected.
Another scene shows the leader of the "Freighter Delta Force" holding Alex at gunpoint
while negotiating with Ben, so it would appear that the freightees were behind the ambush in the last episode. The Lost team
is very good at trailer sleight of hand though, so we'll have to wait and see.
Speaking of waiting, I'm sick of it, and I'm hoping for a great run from here to the end
of the season.
I was actually starting to lose interest in Lost. It felt like the season was over,
and the hiatus has allowed the rituals of another spring to crowd their way into our lives and spoil our
focus. I'm expecting that the writers and producers are aware of this, and are going to give us the equivalant of a good
dousing with ice cold water this week to snap us back to attention.
I'm ready, are you?
