MOMS Club® of
Montgomery Village, MD

We offer a wide verity of activities at various times and locations (see sample calendars). Below is a list of some of the activities and services we provide along with a brief description.

Book Club

Ignite those brain cells and join with other moms during the day to discuss a book of choice. As always, children are most welcome and moms gather at either another member's home, a playground or coffee shop to discuss a book that has been selected in advance. Book Club meets periodically throughout the year based on interest.

Business Meetings

Once a month we hold a business meeting for all members of the club to attend. At this meeting we discuss upcoming events, our budget, topics of concern or interest to our moms and handle any pending club business. Several times throughout the year we also invite guest speakers to come in and talk to our moms. This meeting is also open to prospective members who may be interested in finding out more about our club and it’s membership. We also hold additional open meetings for prospective members; please contact the Membership VP for additional information.

Service Projects

Each local MOMS Club performs at least one service project benefiting children each year. Examples of service projects that have been done in the past include donation drives for various local organizations and fundraisers to support the Mother-To-Mother fund. The Mother-To-Mother fund is a special charitable fund organized by the International MOMS Club and supported by local chapters to provide grants for MOMS Club members suffering from devastating situations.

Babysitting Co-op

The purpose of the Babysitting co-op is to offer MOMS club moms a trusted babysitting service based on a credit system. The babysitters are members of this chapter and will watch your child in their home. Each member is automatically given credits upon joining that can be used for babysitting minutes; additional credits are earned for each child that you baby-sit for.

Meals for Moms

Support for moms is our number one priority in MOMS Club and Meals for Moms is one of our most welcome projects aimed at helping our membership. Members commit to preparing or providing a healthy meal to help a fellow mother in need when circumstances call for assistance. We are there to help whether the mom is welcoming a new baby into the family, suffering the loss of a loved one or just going through a difficult family situation. A volunteer coordinator sends the call out for assistance and our members respond generously.

Playgroups

Playgroups are a great way for children to learn to play with other children of various ages. Playgroups also play a role in teaching children how to share, to become accustomed to having other kids play in their home, and offer Moms an opportunity to get to know other Moms. Our playgroups are open to all members of MOMS club and any member may host a playgroup. Playgroups may also be hosted outside of the home at local parks, pools and community centers. We also have “traditional playgroups” which are made up of a small group of moms with children about the same age that meet on a regular basis. These groups are kept to about 6-9 moms to foster closer friendships.

Moms' Night Out
Moms' Night Out is another great way for the members to enjoy the friendships and the support that the MOMS Club offers. We meet no more thant once a month for dinner at a local restaurant or other special event like making pottery or bowling. The MOMS Club recognizes that moms occasionally need this type of outing to feel recharged and have some downtime. Moms' Night Out is just that!
