Here is a tip on how to make internet explorer go faster
(this tip also works for avant browser)
Increase maximum number of simultaneous connection in Internet Explorer

By default, Internet Explorer 6 allows only two simultaneous server connections, which is fine for normal use, but can bog down when you are connecting to web pages with lots of graphical content. By increasing the number of possible connections, you can use your Internet bandwidth more efficiently, and load complex web pages faster.

To increase IE maximum connections:

Start REGEDIT.

Navigate to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings'

Add the following two DWORD entries:

'MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server'        value equals '0000000a'
'MaxConnectionsPerServer'        value equals '0000000a'

Exit and reboot.

This page has not been updated in a long time (I have not updated my install of IE because after IE6, all new versions caused me to loose FTP support within folders, which pretty much makes up 50% of my work process, I open the html files with notepad and make changes then save the changes, with IE7 and up, this adds a extra step to this process).

I also removed the host file because it was very outdated and and no longer effective, a better solution is to just install spybot and run the immunization process which will automatically update the host file with up to date entries that are more reliable.
