Left rear quarter patch welded in place. The trunk drop off was replaced and the outer wheelhouse was patched simultaneously.
"Dad - there sure is a lot of rust in there!"
Right side rear inner wheelhouse patch in place.
I decided to only patch what needed repair in lieu of cutting out entire panels. Not only was it easier, but I figured there was no point in removing what was otherwise perfectly good material.

The first area I tackeled was the left quarter.
Because the rust involved the quarterpanel, the lower 6" of the outter wheelhouse and the trunk drop-off all three pieces had to be repaired simultaneously. For the quarter, I used a lower patch and I cut up a repro outer wheelhouse for patches. I replaced the entire left trunk floor and drop-off due to holes in the trunk floor itself.

I left the rear edge of the quarter panel in place to use as a reference point in fitting everything back in. First I tacked the trunk floor / drop-off in place lining it up with the remaining section of the quarter, inner wheelhouse, and framerail. Then I lined up the quarter patch and the wheelhouse patch simultaneously to be sure everything fit and tacked the wheelhouse patch in place. At this point I removed the quarter patch and welded up the wheelhouse patch inside and out, leaving enough room to slide the quarter patch between the remaining quarter panel and the wheelhouse.
