The Scan7 kit from Speaker City is a rear-ported monitor employing very hig-quality Scanspeak 18w_8545k00 Mid/Woofer and a Scanspeak D2905/9500 1-inch soft dome tweeter with a well-desgined crossover. It forms the heart of a small system in my living room that provides music while entertaining guests and backgroud music for daily living. The bass from these little monitors is prodigious yet tight and imaging is superb

This speaker rivals commercial products costing significantly more. The cabinets are 3/4-inch MDF veneered in cherry with 6 coats of rubbed lacquer.

The current iteration of this speaker uses the same drivers but in a cabinet with a front slot port.
