The Holtkamp Organ at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Rankin, PA is believed
to have been installed in Rankin in the 1960s. This is the only remaining pipe organ in Word of God Parish, featuring
7 stops (9 ranks) of crisp, clean sound. All of the stops on this organ are clean and articulate, excellent for congregational
support and classical organ works. Although the keyboard is short (4 1/2 octaves), the instrument is a joy to play.
Holtkamp lists the organ as #1713, originally
installed in 1958 in the chapel of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Cleveland, OH. How it got to us, we just aren't
sure. "Church lore" suggests that the organ was purchased from a Monastary in Ohio in the 60's.
The organ was renovated in 2004 by Kirk
Wilson and Associates. The completed work included releathering all chests, replacement of windlines, tonal regulation
and tuning. The organ sounds great and should service the Catholic Community in Rankin for many years to come.
