Thursday, Friday, Saturday, May 22-24,
2008
Cecil B. Moore Avenue @ Temple University
Join us Memorial Day weekend, May 22-24,
2008 for the 24th Annual Celebration of Black Writing Festival! This year’s
theme: Black Family Values: Our Village, Our Writing, Our Future will feature panels and discussions with authors whose work, from the light-hearted
to the most serious, focuses on the black community. Black Family Values—the
extended family, our international village—have kept African-Americans alive in this country, no matter what.
In addition, we are proud to honor activist, poet and publisher of Third World Press Haki Madhubuti as the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award winner. Be sure to purchase your tickets early to the Friday
night ceremony!
These three days of mostly free literary events are open
to the public as we honor black family values, our culture, promote reading and literacy in our community! Hope
to see you there!
