North Stars Afterschool Arts Program
is a unique, performance-based after-school arts program for students 12-18 years
old. Students are recruited city-wide to participate in this free program. Youth interested in poetry, spoken word, dance
and music are encouraged to join this stellar afterschool arts program. The North Stars program includes:
- Poetry and Spoken Word
- Music – singing and instrumental
- Dance – hip-hop, modern, step, tap, and African
- African Enrichment - West African Dance, Masquerade Drumming, Shekere, and Stilt
Walking
- Cooking -
creating meals for small reception
The
North Stars uses social and oral history as a text to provide content for
the expressive arts. This afterschool arts program is here to provide students with:

and writing skills

performing
skills
-
leadership,
activism, and social skills,

classes
that will lead to a not-to-be-missed original multimedia theater production in May.
