The 'Trout In The Classroom" project was well received by students
and TU members. When Dave Abraham was showing off the trout on May 16, after the TU general membership meeting, he noticed
the chiller was not working and the temperature in the tank was going up. Dave and several other TUers quickly moved the remaining
trout to Hokendauqua Creek. The chapter is hoping to get the chiller fixed. Due to the busy time schedules of teachers, the
teacher volunteer for 'First Cast' was not able to institute the program. Dave Abraham was able to enlist another teacher,
Sue Transue, who teaches at the Northampton Area Middle School, to run the program. The chapter will seek permission to start
up the program in September, if State Council approves. On June 16, the chapter supplied 19 adult instructors at two programs.
Dale Steventon led a contingent of 14 volunteers in Youth Field Day activities, at the Point Phillips Rod and Gun Club. Subjects
included lure selection, casting, aquatic insects, canoeing and fishing for stocked trout. The other event was the second
annual 'Women in the Outdoors' event, held at the Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club. Dale Ott and four fellow TUers provided fly-casting
instruction and guided the ladies to land their first fish on a fly. In other news, the chapter is hoping to expand its 'Adopt
A Stream' project on Hokendauqua Creek. We had two chapter trips, to fish the West Branch Ausable River in NY,during the month
of June. The first trip involved 9 participants, while the second trip maxed out at 23 participants.
We will be resuming our monthly General Membership meetings along
with the separate Board of Directors meetings. The Fly Tying classes will start the first Saturday in January 2008.
