Fort Greene Strategic Neighborhood Action Partnership : What's New

Tuesday, July 05, 2005

Hi everyone. This summer so far has been pretty nice, what with all the great events going on in Fort Greene. Leaves of Grass in the park was fabulous, and the food at the African festival over the weekend of the 4th was sooooo great. This week we have a group of summer youth starting at the SNAP, and they say the are all excited to be helping out with the lab, so that they can help the community. Check our calendar for new classes on the internet, and of course our basics class will be happening again, too.
Have fun this summer!

Happy Winter - and we sure are having one, aren't we. At Fort Greene SNAP we are setting up a second round of winter classes, starting the Week of Feb 14 - with a Windows 2000 class starting again on Friday, Feb 11, 10am - 12pm, be there or be square. See our list of workshops (click over there on the right) and also check our online classes set for this winter.

Much progress has been made regarding the issues with the Aurburn Family Shelter - conditions are improving with the help of elected officials and all of you who came into SNAP and signed our petitions to the Mayor. We are still collecting names, so if you haven't made it in to add your voice to those of all the concerned neighbors in our community, well, we're waiting for you.

Stay tuned here for news on Steiner Studios - Fort Greene SNAP has been chosen to represent Steiner Studios when things get underway over there - currently we are setting up to take resumes that will go in their hiring bank, so that when they start to hire (and I get the impression that won't be too soon) they'll have plenty of names to choose from. Email us at Steinerjobs@fortgreenesnap.org for more information.

Okay, enough for now. Talk to you soon
