Comments:
Thomas Chantler lived to be 80 years old. Thomas and Betty are believed to have had at least 13 children. Thomas is listed as an inn-keeper in the township of Elton.
Peter Chantler appears to have had three wives. Harriet was born to his first wife, Elizabeth, whose last name may have been Hoyle, but her surname has not been confirmed. Peter Chantler, innkeeper and proprietor of houses, also married Hannah Holt on 9/28/1814, and Ellen Edge on 9/17/1817. Peter died in his 77th year.
It is interesting to note that the marriage of Ellen Longshaw to Richard Rothwell appears to be a marriage between a great-granddaughter to a grandson. Thus Helen Augusta Rothwell had a strong genetic connection to the Chantler line;
and it is not surprising that she lived to be 91 in light of the fact that Minnie, Ellen, and Annie Longshaw lived to be 75, 85, and 89 years old, and Thomas and Peter Chantler were both long lived.
An excellent history documenting the Chantler, Longshaw and Rothwell families was researched and written by Margaret Killick Ramsay and is available to family memebers.
