Application for Residencies in Ocular Disease
The Optometric Residency Program at the Huntington VA Medical Center utilizes the Optometry Residency Matching Service (ORMS). Applicants must register with ORMS and may do so online at www.optometryresident.org. The cost is $30.00. Registration begins October 1st and ends February 1st.
After completing the ORMS application, applicants need to submit the following information to the program supervisor in Huntington, Dr. Matthew Cordes:
1) Curriculum Vitae
A simple, up-to-date CV with academic, professional, and social/extra-curricular history.
2) Three (3) letters of recommendation
Prefer letters from those who have worked with you clinically.
3) Copy of Optometry School/College Transcripts
4) Letter of Intent
A concise letter explaining why you wish to pursue a Residency in Ocular Disease.

All application materials are due to Dr. Cordes in Huntington by March 1st. After reviewing applications, qualified applicants will be contacted regarding an interview. All applicants are welcome to contact Dr. Cordes to make arrangements for a visit to our facility at any time during the year.
All visits and interviews for residency positions need to be completed prior to March 1st, the date of the ORMS match.
