The “Wheeling I” image presents a symbolic view of Wheeling, WV on a sunny Spring morning.  It centers on the historic Wheeling Suspension Bridge, the oldest operating suspension bridge in the world, and a US National Landmark.   To its left is is the Ft. Henry Bridge, which opened in 1955.  In the foreground of the scene are the houses of Wheeling Island.  North Wheeling, which contains a number of restored Victorian style homes, can be seen behind and to the left of the Ft Henry Bridge and several of the larger commercial buildings of the city to the right of the Suspension Bridge.  A coal barge plies the Ohio just north of the Ft. Henry Bridge. The hills to the east of the city fill out the background of the scene.
