Do A Mitzvah
Alice Gould volunteers much of her time to coordinate a project to index all the
headstones in the Newark Jewish cemeteries. The information is made available to researchers all over the world. There are
now over 25,000 entries in the computer data. If you can assist us in this wonderful mitzvah, contact Alice at (973) 575-8875

Our own member has been immortalized. In the October 15, 2000 edition of the New York Times, NJ Section, Alice's photo appeared
with an article about the Newark cemeteries.

Congratulations to Alice Gould on the publishing of her book, The Old Jewish Cemeteries of Newark.

We are happy to appoint volunteer Judy Tasoff as chairperson of the Resource Library committee.
She
has graciously agreed to take on the tedious task of cataloging and organizing our resources. Volunteers are needed for the
first phase which is writing down all the resources not yet entered into the computer. If you can help before or after meetings,
