Friends,
Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer is working in cooperation with the Philadelphia Sports
Congress,
Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, and other city and statewide agencies in an effort
to bring the
World Cup to
Philadelphia in 2018 or 2022.
The
USA Bid Committee has recently announced that Philadelphia is one of 27 cities to advance to the next stage of the bid process,
which will continue until December when the committee announces 18 finalist U.S. cities for its bid to
FIFA,
soccer's
international governing body. FIFA is expected to announce the host countries for 2018 and 2022
in December 2010.
As Philadelphia continues to vie to be one of the U.S. hosts for the World Cup, which would bring
thousands of international visitors and invaluable exposure to our region, we're asking for your help.
The USA Bid
Committee is currently mounting a campaign to demonstrate the support that exists nationwide to bring the World Cup to the
U.S., and asking each of the prospective host cities to participate. Please see details below, which outline how people
can go to
www.gousabid.com and sign the petition with their support.
We'd like to ask your help by forwarding the following link to your organization's
e-mail database or include the 'The Game Is In US' campaign in your own e-news format. The program has officially rolled
out throughout the region and we would appreciate your e-blast support. In addition, we'd be grateful if you can build
this link
http://www.philadelphiausa.travel/data/pcvb/newsletter%20images/PCVB/0909/worldcup-0909.html onto your website to generate additional response. Please contact us at the state office if you have any questions.
People
can sign up as often as they'd like. We'll be compared to other cities around the country in our response, so let's
show that Philadelphia has THE most enthusiasm to host the World Cup of any city in the U.S.! Thank you very much for your
support.
