On May 31, the FMPR distributed informational leaflets outside the SEIU Convention in Puerto Rico. In their information picket,
they distributed leaflets exposing the participation and collaboration of the SEIU with Governor Acevedo Vila in an attempt
to defeat the FMPR in the next internal union elections. While the teachers entered the convention grounds to distribute
leaflets to the SEIU convention delegates, the riot police, together with private security guards, blocked the public walkways
and attacked the teachers to prevent their freedom of speech.
Dennis Rivera and the nation's governor are in cahoots in their attempt to defeat a militant and combative union. They
wish to replace the FMPR with a dues-sucking, corporate bosses "union" that support the government and the re-election
campaign of Acevedo-Vila.
SEIU Delegates should build support solidarity with the FMPR, denounce the police brutality,and work to defeat the bureaucratic,
anti-democratic and corrupt SEIU leadership.
The betrayal,by union leaders, of working class solidarity must not be tolerated.
