(CONCERNING THE AVIAN BIRD FLU & PH OF FOODS)

I hope that I'm not unnecessarily burdening you in an already overburdening information age.
If stuff like this is unwelcome (however well intended it may be),
please let me know & I'll bother you no more.

Since the Avian Virus is continuing to get media coverage,I thought it wise
to revisit the subject.
On top of my prior e-mail (for those who were excluded),
here's more info to consider / print up about pandemic preparation
gleaned from the North Shore / Cape Ann Emergency Preparedness Coalition,
Spring 2006 Spirit of Change magazine &
a Google search result that I found for Alkaline Foods.
The NSCAEPC document is about 50 pages long & details preparatory measures
that can be taken for any kind of an emergency not just the bird flu.
I asked my boss in an e-mail today if WFM was making any preparations
for the possibility of a bird flu pandemic & he said that it was &
that the subject had been introduced in a recent Leadership meeting.

Research seems to indicate that a pH balance of about 80% is ideal
for good health, when the body is "less susceptible to communicable diseases".
Also, this pH level can be encouraged by starting the day with a glass of warm/hot water
& lemon juice or apple cider vinegar.
A well balanced diet of acid & alkaline foods is usually the healthiest.
However, the body can often become too acidic if one doesn't
drink enough water,
eats too many acidifying foods, is under a lot of stress or
prone to allergic reaction to various substances.Candidiasis,like a host of other ailments,
is related to ph imbalance.
It's important to then favor more alkalizing foods.

(CONCERNING CANDIDIASIS)
Pa, Congratulations on realizing that you have Candidiasis.
[ I left my scanner light on, so it died & I'll have to get a better one - Thank God. So,
not being able to scan you the info, I finally sent those Healthy Healing pages on Candidiasis down
to you on Monday.]
Did you read the sheets on it that I printed out? I don't know what your symptoms
are & why you've realized this, but I assume that you don't feel well for various reasons & have finally
started to put it all together. Some of my key symptoms are achiness all over,less energy, a feeling
of vulnerability & a kind of burning sensation in the flesh as if I had a constant low grade fever. This sensation makes
me unsettled & uncomfortable in my own skin.
This admission of yours is a very important 1st step to healing yourself from this
insidious condition.
I've been grappling with this very point myself for many years, that
is, though I've spoken to people who've been severely affected by candidiasis, had a blood test to see the imbalance &
have collected & worked with books & papers etc. on this ailment or malady off & on since at least
1987, I still have a hard time taking it seriously.
The main reason for my resistance is that the Candida Diet is extremely rigorous
& tough to stick to.It requires a big commitment & is guaranteed to push your buttons. It's an ideal to work
towards, but impossible to achieve. You'll find yourself cheating on
it, but try to minimize that as much as possible.
There's the "bad" news & the "good" & it's not going to be easy.
I think that it'd be good to send you a series of e-mails about treating this condition to
teach us all how to master it. There are a lot of details to keep in mind, especially what foods you can & can't have at least until things have gone into remission. I also think & hope that as you heal this condition
your need to get up at night will decrease.
You'll need to work conscientiously with Ma & develop meal
ideas, since it's common to feel very light on this diet & often craving more. I hope that between the
4 of us, you ought to have a good enough support system to lick it. You've proven yourself to be a man of tremendous strength
& will power & that will be tested once again.
People get candidiasis for different reasons. You primarily have gotten it because your immune
system has been severely compromised by repeated treatments of antibiotics & advancing years. Lori & I get it
because we aren't careful enough with our diet & don't eat as well as we should. Here's an initial rundown of things to
work on:
1) What's Candidiasis, it's Causes & Symptoms? "Candidiasis is a state
of inner imbalance not a disease. It is a stress-related condition marked by a seriously compromised immune response.Candida
albicans yeast is common, normally living harmlessly in the gastrointestinal tract and genito-urinary areas of the body. But
when immune response is reduced by repeated rounds of antibiotics, birth control pills or steroid drugs, a high sugar or carbohydrate
rich diet, and a lifestyle short on rest, the body loses its intestinal balance and candida yeasts multiply too rapidly, voraciously
feeding on the excess sugars and carbohydrates in the digestive tract. As an immune-compromised condition, candida is extremely
hard to overcome. Give your body's weakened defences assistance or candida colonies will flourish throughout the body and

I've mentioned some of my symptoms above. Here are a few of them as
listed in the literature: SYMPTOMS
Feeling "drained",fatigue & lethargy, "spacey" or "unreal",indecisive,Insomnia,
muscle aches, Poor memory,
numbness,burning or tingling,muscle weakness, pain &/or swelling in joints,
abdominal pain, constipation,diarrhea
bloating,belching or intestinal gas, prostatitis,shaking or irritable when hungry, cold
hands or feet & / or chilliness, rectal itching, blisters in mouth,sore throat, ear pain or deafness,urinary urgency or
frequency,indigestion or heartburn,tendency to bruise easily,dizziness/loss of balance,frequent mood swings, Irritability
or jitteriness & drowsiness
2) How should it be treated & for how long? The Immune System needs
to be boosted a great deal! For this "Herb & Supplement Therapy" is very important & needs to be combined with

since their skins are loaded with molds & yeasts, melons (particularly cantaloupe)(except Granny Smith apples),No
Sugar in any form including molasses & honey, No Candy,No Ice cream, Wheat Products,
White flour products, baked goods, ( like Croissant),breads, biscuits & pancake mixes,
soda crackers & any other foods requiring bakers yeast, vinegar(like in salad dressing),catsup,mayonnaise(?),mustard,pickles,sauerkraut,
soy sauce,Worcestershire sauce, spices(esp.pepper),olives, dried fruits,canned or frozen fruit juices,Mushrooms,
Cheeses(!), sour milk,cream cheese,ricotta cheese, milk, powdered milik & buttermilk, Grape Nuts & dry cereals
that contain malt, malted milk drinks & soda fountain drinks
No Ground Meat,Pork(bacon,(!)ham,pork sausage), processed meat with additives, breaded
& pickled meat
That's a hell of a long list! Now, you're probably starting to feel pretty overwhelmed.

- Some of the "good" news I forgot to mention yesterday:
- As we heal on the diet we feel calmer, more centered & in control & symptons subside.
- Cheating, Rationalization - The Trickster & the need for simple biofeedback
assessment immediately,1,2,3,6,12,24 etc. hours later - An Example
After being on the diet for a few days, I cheated today & had 16 oz. of organic black coffee &
soymilk, then went for a run. I rationalized that I can't give up coffee entirely & that I'll go wild & have it 1ce
a week & It won't be a problem, just pure pleasure. Initially I felt great, then 2 hours later
I had an intense rush of fear & anxiety (or minor panic attack) & feeling paranoid thought that you both would
hate me for yesterday's Candidiasis #1 e-mail. I had to take myself in hand & assure myself that I put together &
sent the e-mail out of love (whatever your reaction might be) & told myself that everything was in divine order.
Lesson:Who am I trying to kid? I can't kid myself into believing that drinking coffee is OK for me;
it isn't.
More good things to eat:Oats,Quinoa, Rice Cakes,sesame seeds,sunflower seeds, unsweetened sunflower
butter, sesame oil & toasted sesame oil, vanilla extract (!)& some authoritative sources say that lean cuts of Pork
are OK(!) Like with everything views on the subject of Cadidiasis do differ a bit & are always evolving.
I believe that the first authoritative source that was published on Candidiasis was:
The Yeast Connection / A Medical Breakthrough by William G. Crook, MD Professional Books, Jackson,
TN 1983 & it's been revised & expanded at least 3 times probably a few more.
