Here's a picture of me.
I work as a consultant in United Parcel Service (I know you are least bothered!). I have been in the USA since March 1996. My previous jobs include Ramco Systems, Chennai, India, and Sonata, Bangalore. I am from Chennai (Madras),India. I did my BE (Hons) Computer Science from BITS, Pilani, India, 1988-1992. I did my schooling in SBOA, Chennai, India. I love to travel. I wish to see every state in the USA before I retire. I have been to the Acadia, the Great Smoky Mountains, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Finger Lakes and Canton (Ohio). Nature is probably at its best in the US. I have covered most of the eastern region except Florida (which I would visit after retirement!). The Grand Canyon and the west are next in my list! |
| I was born on the fourth day of the twelfth month, nineteen hundred and seventy years after whatever-it-is-supposed-to-be. Naturally, I am a sagittarian and I think the world is filled with sagittarians (as is it, full of leos, virgos, capricorns, cancers, geminis...). For some reason. I seem to have too many libran friends. | ![]() |
My interests include carnatic and film music, stereograms, physics, metaphysics(?!), spirituality, philosophy, abstract art, cartoons, blah, blah, blah! I swim and play cricket, tennis and carrom (finally, something real!).
I love pasta and black coffee and thrill rides. I also love to drive my Integra when it snows! And finally, let this world be one global village.

I am married to this lovely girl Prathibha Athreya, since May 12, 1999. The marriage was arranged,
and we fell in love after the arrangement. It may sound weird to people from the western world,
but mostly that's how it works in our culture and it has been working great for centuries.
Prathibha and I were married on May 12, 1999, in Chennai, India.
Prathibha graduated with a dual degree, in 1998 from BITS, Pilani. (No wonder we have things in common.) |

We have two wonderful kids - a son named Shashwath and a daughter named Samiksha.
'Shashwath' is a Sanskrit word meaning 'Eternal'. It is one of the 1008 names of Vishnu, the Protector God. We chose the last name Athreya, since that is our 'Gothram'. 'Samiksha' (pronounced 'Sameeksha') is also a Sanskrit word meaning analysis/interpretation, especially with regards to Mimamsa Sastra (which is the Science of Interpretation and Inquiry into Vedic rituals.) |
