This is made of bass-wood, about 19 inches tall. The skin is coated with Danish oil, the dress is gold metal paint, and the hair is soaked with a wood hardener that keeps it platinum blond instead of darkening with the oil.

I was inspired to do this piece based on Marilyn Monroe, instead of just copying one of the old original pieces. I did not try to do a portrait, but I certainly hope to some day be commissioned to do another of her with her white dress blowing out along the sides of a ships bow. That would be awesome!!!

I'm also amazed at how many women saw me working on this at my shows and recognized, from the back, that this was based on Marilyn Monroe!
