Sunshine Programs (our summer affliate day program)

Sunshine Programs is a therapeutic summer program for children with emotional difficulties. The program offers a clinically oriented atmosphere which provides supervised recreational activities and learning experiences designed to promote self-esteem and emotional well being.  It enables children to have a structured, socializing experience which can supplement the typical school program.  The program also provides respite to families who are burdened with the daily care of a special needs child
In addition to the therapeutic milieu, every child participates in a coordinated activity program.  Each individual program is developed in conjunction with the appropriate school personnel who design and implement the child*s overall academic plan.  A typical program might consist of positive experiences which target improvement in social interaction skills, impulse control, basic living skills, physical fitness, reality testing, peer relationships, fine and gross motor coordination, and self-esteem. By participating in such activities, the child can maintain and enhance his emotional well being and he does not experience the regression that usually occurs during an unstructured and unsupervised summer break.

LENGTH OF DAY
Sunshine Programs is a six-week therapeutic program. The hours are from 9:00 till 4:15 Monday through Friday.

ENROLLMENT
Our enrollment is based on the child*s individual needs and our staff ratio.  For that reason we suggest that applications be forwarded to our office as soon as possible.  No child can enter our program until all mandatory forms are completed.

PROGRAM SITE
Our program site is located at One Winch Street Framingham, MA.  It houses a Main Building, swimming pool, arts and crafts area, music area, play ground area with swings and sandboxes, nature area, tennis-basketball court, computer room, and adaptive physical education building.  We are fortunate to have the use of an adjacent State Park that offers dirt bike trails, walking trails, and additional play areas.

ACTIVITIES
A child will participate in the activities mapped out in his own individual plan designed to meet his own specific needs.  This plan will include a variety of well-supervised programs.  These might include arts & crafts, nature, self-help skills, fishing, music, games, adaptive physical education, instructional and free swim, dirt biking, project adventure, groups sessions and other therapeutic, ego, and esteem-building skills.
It is important to note that Sunshine Programs is a non-competitive program.

TUITION
Tuition for the six-week session is determined each year in February.  We accept Sole Source Funding from the Public School.  All tuition must be paid in full before the child begins in the program.

 MEDICAL
Sunshine Programs does not provide a health insurance policy, nor can we be held responsible for payment of an injury that may occur to a child during the day or during transportation to and from home.  For that reason, each child is required to provide his own medical coverage.

Sunshine Programs is celebrating its 31st year of service to children with emotional challenges.
