Martin R. Anderson

Has been taking and making pictures most of his life.

When he was 16, one of his very first photographs, printed in a home darkroom won First Prize in Photography in the Connecticut Physicians' Art Association Show. (Both of Martin's parents were doctors and the show was open to physicians' family members). Although the early recognition was an incentive, it would be several decades before he got back into the darkroom and won another award in photography.

Meanwhile, Martin graduated from Boston University's College of Fine Arts, in 1972 having majored in theater. He spent many years as an actor ("The Proposition" "The Next Move" "Shear Madness" "Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You."), a director and teacher. For over twenty years, he has been a Practitioner in the TRAGER® Approach to Movement Education.

In 2000, Martin constructed his first pinhole camera and began anew photographic explorations. He now has over thirty self-constructed pinholes in his family of cameras.

Martin's home is in Brookline, MA. He likes to spend time making photographs in Provincetown, New York City, Key West, London and Paris.
