LEGISLATION

Since the adjournment of the last Executive Council meeting, the NBA, RAA’s and a Local Business Agent have made office visits in New Jersey, recruiting 846 e-activists. It is difficult to meet with groups of retirees, but Region 15 is currently exploring methods of recruiting those members as activists.

CUSTOMER CONNECT

The NBA or an RAA / Local Business Agent have attended every District Customer Connect kick-off. The NALC has a district coordinator as well as an office coordinator in every workplace where Customer Connect has been introduced. The Phase Two roll-outs were completed in the Central and Northern New Jersey, Long Island, New York and Westchester District in June. The Triboro District was completed at the end of July. The Puerto Rico District was scheduled for initial rollout on August 5. The rollout was delayed due to vacation scheduling and local holidays.

In Central and Northern New Jersey districts, revisits are being conducted to keep awareness of the program in the forefront. The follow-up visits in Northern New Jersey have been particularly successful as the number of new leads and sales have been constant even though it has been some time since a new office has been rolled out. The Long Island District has kept its steady and successful pace in providing new leads and sales. Its PTD is $6,091,000.00.

MDA

We have held two MDA Kickoff Breakfasts this year, one in New York and one in New Jersey. This year promises an even more involved effort, as at least ten more NALC branches have committed to join the fight against Neuromuscular Disease.

We held our First Annual Region 15 Golf Tournament on June 22, 2005 and as a result, we donated a net amount of $8,817.00 to MDA. Our first attempt at an MDA Walk / Picnic was held on Sunday, August 7, 2005 for our New Jersey branches, as well as Staten Island, NY and we raised $2200 on this initial effort.

The Annual MDA Telethon where any branch who donated $10,000 or more earned a spot on our local NY Telethon was held over the Labor Day weekend. Region 15 was able to contribute over $425,000 due to all of your support, please continue to support our efforts. The NALC is strong, but we can't be successful without your involvement and support.
