Object: Sadr (Gamma Cygni)

Constellation: Cygnus

Instrument: 9x63 Meade Travelview Binoculars 5.8° field of view

Power: 9x

Description:

At 23:44 EDT, what appeared to be a satellite passed through the field of view (shown as purple line, about the same brightness as the yellow magnitude 5.25 HIP99968 it passed). The Milky Way nebulosity was just visible (I've seen more of it around Sadr from Bowie in binoculars). Four patches of nebulous stars are drawn—the one at 3 O'Clock is M29. The other three were stars in the haze, apparently. Cygnus (especially in a dark sky) is one of the more beautiful areas in the sky for binoculars, largely because the Milky Way goes through there.

Oh be a fine girl--kiss me!
