Al Rollins is selling door lock inserts:
Tired of paying exorbitant prices to replace those brittle plastic door lock inserts? Besides being expensive, they
are a pain to install and don’t have a long life expectancy. Some people used black rubber grommets; they will work
but also have their disadvantages. The rubber grommets also became brittle with age and only came in one color BLACK. Fine
if you have a black interior but what about the rest of us? I looked around and discovered a better grommet, pure, clear silicone.
No age or U/V deterioration and it looks very close to the original clear plastic insert sold by the vendors. Another plus
is that they are very easy to install. Remove the lock knob and old insert. Place the silicone grommet into the opening and
using a small flat bladed screwdriver, press the lower lip of the grommet below the door metal, then replace the knob. It
only takes about a minute. They are flexible and do not break or discolor, even in the coldest winters. They may not be OEM,
but might get past an unsuspecting Tech Inspector. Oh, did I mention that they are much cheaper than the vendor’s price
and one size does fit all. I have a supply and they are available for $1.00 each plus $.50 for S & H.
