The Monadnock Mountain Club (MMC) was formed in May of 2006. Our mission is threefold:

To maintain the 40 mile network of trails. Monadnock is suffering from  increased usage and the trails are in constant need of upkeep. Many trails are showing major erosion concerns, not only due to the increase in foot traffic, but also as a result of the increased severity of storms. Our main goal is to provide trail maintenance and to help improve trail sections that need the most attention. Working closely with the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests and the Monadnock State Park personnel, our volunteers and trail adopters aim to make hiking Monadnock a more pleasurable experience for all.

To aid and educate the public. Our goal is to first help or aid any fellow hiker who may find themselves in an uncomfortable or serious situation on the mountain. Monadnock has extreme terrain and weather conditions quite similar to what is found in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. To those who are in need of help, we will offer assistance in any way possible. We also seek to promote good hiking practices, and respect for the mountain as well as for other hikers.

To lead guided and group hikes. Monadnock offers many trails and points of interest that few are aware of. Since most people hike the major trails leading from the State Park Headquarters, many are unaware of the best kept secrets on the mountain. These include Thoreau's two documented campsites, Dinsmoor's Tavern, Inscribed Rock and other historic sites as well as little used trails that offer some of the most beautiful views and interesting features found anywhere. Our mission will include offering members the opportunity to discover places off the beaten path and to learn about the history of Monadnock on guided hikes. We also offer group hikes for members interested in joining others for both companionship and safety reasons. Full moon hikes and winter ascents are also offered to members.
