Peter Staecker received the BS and PhD degrees (both in Electrical Engineering) from MIT and Polytechnic University, respectively. He joined MIT Lincoln Laboratory in 1972 where he designed microwave devices and circuits for satellite communications. In 1986, he joined M/A-COM, and led program and product development in microwave and millimeter-wave technology, including LMDS, radar sensors for automotive applications, and GaAs HBTs for commercial applications. As Director of Engineering, he helped facilitate the company′s transition from government to commercial focus, and led outreach efforts to universities as research partners. He retired from AMP M/A-COM as Director of Research and Development in 1998.

Staecker chaired the iNEMI Technical Working Group on RF Components from 1996-1999, and serves on editorial advisory review boards of Microwave Journal, and Artech House. From 1996-2000, he served on the NIST Assessment Panel for Electronics and Electrical Engineering.
