February 2008
February 7, Thursday - Gung Hay Fat Choy! It's the 1st day of Lunar Chinese New Year (4706)
- celebrating the Year of the Rat. Members can stop by to get your hong bao/lai see (red envelope/lucky money).
February 10, Sunday 1-3pm, Starting today until sold out, tickets for the New Year/Spring Banquet will be sold on a first
come first served basis. Tickets are $20/person with restrictions, so stop by association's hall for more details. Also, a
good time to pay this year's membership dues.
February 16, Saturday 10AM - Everyone is invited to come down to 81 Bayard Street see a special performance, courtesy
of Grand Master Yee Chi Wai (Frank Yee) of the Yee's Hung-Ga International Kung Fu Association. Lion and Dragon dance teams
and students from his academy will highlight their achievements.
On February 19th, a group of members went to Gouverneur's nursing home facility to wish the
senior patients a happy new year.
On February 17th, our Women's League held a Tong Yuen
cooking festivity in celebration of the 15th day of the lunar new year. Click here Women's League events and pictures.
March 2008
March 1, Saturday - Association's Chinese New Year/Spring Banquet to celebrate
the Chinese Lunar New Year and to honor senior members. Buffet lunch will follow ancestor ritual at 12:30 pm at association's
hall. Banquet celebration will start at 6pm at Jing Fong Restaurant, 20 Elizabeth Street, NY 10013. Members, come join us
to welcome our cousins from Mah, Tse and Boston's chapter during our luncheon.
March 30th, Sunday - Ching Ming, a time to respect our ancestors. The association is going to Mt. Pleasant and Cypress
Hill Cemeteries. Transportation will leave 12 noon, those interested should stop by office for more information and signup.
On March 1st our annual Chinese Lunar New Year and honoring senior members celebration
was held.
April 2008
April 27th Sunday, 2pm; General membership meeting, members are invited to attend.
May 2008
May 18th Sunday - Parent's Day. We will be having a buffet luncheon at 1PM to celebrate Mother's
Day and Father's Day together - "Parent's Day". Also please come join us for our first Health Workshop
11:30AM - 1PM. Gouverneur Healthcare Services and Dr. Louisa Lam will speak on Parkinson and Alzheimer diseases along with
Medicare part D issues.
June 2008
June 1,8,15,22 Sundays - Annual picnic tickets will be sold till June 22 unless sold out for Rye Playland. Come in for
more details and to pick up this year's scholarship applications. Applications need to be return with original report cards
for 07-08 school year no later than July 27, 3PM.
Congratulations to Gin Y. Yee, who was promoted to Inspector during ceremony at Police

July 6,13,20,27 - Sundays, 1-3 PM. Applications for this years scholarship will be accepted/ Please bring original
report cards for the whole school year.
July 12th Saturday - Annual Picnic. This year we will be going to Rye Playland in Rye, New York. Meet buses in front
of American Legion Blding, 191 Canal St, between Mott & Mulberry St. Buses leave at 9AM. Return buses leaves Rye Playland
at 4:00PM sharp. Be on time.
August 2008
August 10th Sunday - Scholarship Award Day. Applicants please note on this day, winners will be required
to participate in this ceremony. Program will begin at noon with ancestral service at association's
hall. Award ceremony will begin at 1PM at Chinese Community Center, 62 Mott St. Lunch will be served following presentation
of awards.
We held our Mid-Autumn Moon Festival celebration on September 7th.

at association's hall. Included for your entertainment will be a musical performance. We hope you will not be disappointed.

November 16th, Sunday - 12noon. Members are welcome to join us at our hall to celebrate Thanksgiving.
November 30th, Sunday - 2PM. Members meeting. Nominations will be accepted for 2009 Officers.
December 2008
December 14th, Sunday - Election Day at association's hall. Members are invited to cast your vote for 2009 candidates
from 9AM- 4PM.
December 28th, Sunday - Installation of new officers. All are welcome to joins us 1 PM for this ceremony.
