Having raised birds for most of my life I realize that this priviledged hobby may not always be open to everyone. Current legislative trends, militant animal rights group activities and unscientific fear of disease may one day lead to the end of imports and a vast different world for bird hobbyist. It is important that we establish captive sustaining colonies of the many species that make up American aviculture. Failure to do so may one day mean that only the well established and domesticated species will exist. I am currently working to establish a self sustaining flock of Goldbreast Waxbills (Africa), and Broad-ring White-eyed Zoysterops (Africa). I am always looking for new bloodlines and would be willing to trade or buy birds of these species. It is my hope that fellow hobbyist, collectors and breeders will reserve space within their flocks to establish one or two of the less common speicies so that my grandchildren will be able to enjoy the variety of finches and softbills that I can today.
