A driving day. The morning was spent taking care of last minute odds and ends. Jerry went shopping for clothes with my Mom while I went to buy a new camp stove and propane. After we regrouped at the house and had a quick lunch, it was time to hit the road.

Our first leg was to be down I-88- a very lightly traveled interstate. Jerry had never driven on a highway before and needed to learn, so she took the first leg to get her feet wet. We took some back roads over to the interstate so she could get used to the car, gassed up and then we got onto the highway. After a few minutes of telling her to speed up, she got comfortable and I started having to tell her to slow down! (Lots of Troopers on I-88).

After an hour and a half or so, Jerry was ready to switch drivers. It had already been the farthest, fastest and longest she’d ever driven at one time. We pulled off in Sidney (New York) and drove a few blocks up the hill to take a break at my father’s cousin’s house. They enjoyed the surprise visit and we chatted for a while before piling back into the car and heading off into PA.
