Re: Complaint Against Dr. Michael Jolin, Superintendent, East Greenwich
Public Schools under the RI General Law 38-2-1 to 38-2-14 Access to Public Records Act
Dear Ms. Hetherington:
I wish to file a complaint against Dr. Michael Jolin, Superintendent for the East Greenwich Public School Department
for failure to comply with my request for information which I believe protected under RI General Law 38-2-1 to 38-2-14 Access
to Public Records Act. I believe my rights under these laws have been violated. I am including a copy of my original request for certain information to Dr. Jolin,
dated January 28, 2005. As you know, due to circumstances with the local post
office, his office did not receive said letter until February 14, 2005.
Subsequently, on March 1, 2005 I received the following information: a
digital copy of the Proposed FY 05-06 Budget, Health Insurance premium information, and the number of enrollees. Ms. Crawford, the Director of Administration and I agreed that in lieu of the requested Gross Wage information,
a “Salary/Benefits” spreadsheet would be provided. Upon closer inspection,
I discovered that the “Salary/Benefit” documents were incomplete, and in all but two instances, inaccurate. Ms. Crawford was required by the School Committee to prepare a response to my concerns,
which she did on March 18, 2005. Unfortunately, these numbers are also incorrect
and inaccurate.
Since some but not all of the requested documents have been received, I wish to proceed with a complaint against
the School Department. I am including copies of all relevant documents to assist
in the inquiry.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Christine RD Mattos
