While We Weren't Skiing... Some people took a side trip to Davos
Some people went on a sleigh ride
One of the highlights was an event called White Turf. White Turf was a series of horse races held on top of a frozen lake. In addition to thoroughbred racing, the event featured harness racing and also a race where skiers were pulled behind the horses.
The vendors of White Turf didn't spare any expenses. There were imported palm trees (unless these trees were genetically altered to grow on top of a frozen lake) and crystal chandeliers hanging inside the tents. This is the world's largest whiskey bar at the Hotel Waldhaus
For some unknown reason, we kept on ending up in the hallway. The hotel had to convert a hallway into a makeshift dining area to serve all the hungry skiers. On our last night in St. Moritz, we decided to continue the theme and have a party in the hotel hallway. Not all of our neighbors were too pleased about it, but that's the price you have to pay for staying in the same hotel as a bunch of loud Americans. |
