My name is Roz Grunmann and I have been making art for over thirty years while I have been a full time History teacher.
I am presently a member of a collective studio in Watertown, Massachusetts with a group of other working women. The studio
is near my house in Cambridge and not too far from the high school where I teach.
I am married with two kids. My family, friends, and colleges have always supported me to keep doing my art.
I have drawn my kids since they were little and they have carried my easel and pastels down to the beach or into the desert.
I started out as a clay person and moved away from doing pottery and sculptural pieces once I had my kids. Also, my art
making has evolved as I became interested in natural settings- plants and people in a unique time and place.Consequently,
I do much of my work away from the studio.
I carry materials with me where ever I go, especially away from the city, The time outside is precious because I can
walk into the space, as well as observe. I prefer to work on site, but I often work from sketches and photographs back at
my studio.
