Chances are you've seen Todd Stashwick somewhere other than as "Dracula"
on Supernatural. He's played a bunch of roles on shows such as Angel, Buffy and Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles.
He's also appeared on Law and Order and CSI. And he was a regular on The Riches with Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver.
He attended his first Supernatural convention in Cherry Hill, New Jersey in March. He immediately won over the
crowd! Todd was very sweet to allow us fans to fire a bunch of questions at him. Here are his responses!
- At what point did you know that you wanted to be an actor, and what would
you consider was your “big break” that solidified that decision as a viable career choice?
I've been acting since I was 11. I would say around 17 was when I decided that I wanted
to do it professionally. Walter Matthau said every actor needs about 50 big breaks but I would say my first was when I hired
to the Second City Chicago comedy troupe back in '92. It was the first time I was paid to perform. *Sigh* You never forget
your first.
- What is your dream role?
To play George C. Tilyou, the man who started Steeplechase park in Coney Island in 1897. Pet project. Dream
Role.
- Besides acting, what other special talents do you possess?
I paint, cartoon and graphic design as a hobby.
- What's in high rotation on your iPod and what bands/artists have you loved
to see in concert?
IPod: Rufus Wainwright, Mike Doughty, Gomez, Fratellis, Laura Marling and I'm loving Fleet
Foxes right now.
Best concert - Hands down Paul McCartney, it was a 3 hour Beatles concert.
- What is your idea of a perfect day off from work?
Surfing with the family, brunch, nap, video
games, out to dinner with friends, see a movie, glass of wine, sleep.
- We’d love your recommendations on the following:
- Book you read recently:
Water for Elephants, The Goon.
- TV program you can't miss:
Battlestar Galactica, Dr. Who
- Movie you saw at the theater or rented:
Synechdoche New York
- Artist or band you love:
Mark Ryden (he's a painter) , Soul Coughing (band)
- Restaurant you dined at:
Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga Canyon
- If you weren’t acting, what back up career would you have?
No back up career, I sealed off all exits early on. It's the only way to achieve what you want.
- If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change and why?
I wish I could
fly, save on gas.
- Where can we see you on screen next?
I just did a few episodes
of Curb Your Enthusiasm and a pilot for CBS called The Karenskys, I'll find out in May if that is picked up for series. Also
Season 2 of the Riches comes out March 24th on DVD.
Thanks for playing! Bye!
Heather, Todd and Lindsay
