Swedish Vallhunds Compete at Westminster
Kennel Club Show for First Time Ever!
In February 2008, for the first time in history, Swedish Vallhunds competed
in New York City's prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Show in the Herding Group. Representing S.V.s
in the finals was Best of Breed winner Ch. Starvon's I'm the One, known as "Bo," bred by Ada West and handled
by Cheryl Rolfe. Best of Breed Opposite Sex was won by Ch. Castleavery's Storm Shimmer, known as "Tia," bred
by Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Gilliland of Ireland's Castleavery and owned by Rebekah W. James of King's Crest Kennel. Bringing home
the Award of Merit was Ch. Starvon's In the Limelight. Congratulations to these winners and to all eight
Swedish Vallhunds who participated in this historic first at Westminster!
Kudos, also, to Kerstin Ottmar's Ch. Jonricker Moustaffa ("Moose"),
recently featured on the Martha Stewart Show.

All About Alfsten Kennel
We are a small family-style kennel dedicated to breeding not only the finest Swedish Vallhunds but
the happiest and healthiest.
"Alfsten" means "Elf Rock" in Swedish--the perfect setting for these compact
dynamos with their elfin charm.
"Alfsten" also evokes the pristine but rocky environments where our Vallhunds thrive. In spring
and summer, Alfsten Vallhunds cavort in the boulder-strewn woods of Maine. In fall and winter, they explore
the rocky coastline and beaches of Massachusetts' North Shore.
A healthy diet plus regular exercise--from backyard agility to running, hiking and canoeing--keep our
pups in trim.
But it's lots of hugs and kisses that bring out the best in these loyal, lovable critters.
