Uniform Standards
We will base our impression on those items that would have been issued to members of the 4th Armored Division in Europe in 1944-1945. We have several resources given to us by veterans. One book is a day to day account of the Division from July 11, 1944 (the day the Division landed in France) until May 8, 1945. This book is extremely helpful because it mentions when certain items (like extra blankets, 2 buckle boots, and sleeping bags) were issued to the men of the Division.
The following standards will apply for all members of the unit.
· Original uniforms or perfect reproductions. Reproductions must be identical in color, construction and material. · All web gear will be the lighter shade khaki. · Boots will be 2 buckle or low quarter service shoes with leggings. · All riflemen will carry an M1 Garand unless they are ammo carriers or gunners in the LMG or Mortar squad. If you carry a carbine, you’ll carry ammo, tripods or a baseplate. · Select BARs and Thompson SMGs will be allowed. · No rank will be worn on a uniform or helmet unless that rank is held by that individual within the unit. · Only 4th Armored or 704 TD patches will be worn on any uniform shirt or jacket. · You will have 1 year to get a complete, correct impression together. (get your uniform first).
Uniform and Web Gear
Each member of the unit will be responsible for obtaining the correct uniform and web gear for his impression. The following is a list of the required minimum uniform and web gear needed for a correct impression.
