I am an active duty Naval Officer (Nuclear Limited Duty Officer) stationed at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
I started out in Submarines as an Electrician and after commissioning was assigned to the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). I've
also served on the USS Benjamin Franklin (SSBN 640), USS Louisville (SSN 724) and the USS Hartford (SSN 768).
After
transferring to the shipyard I figured that it was time to get serious about getting a degree. I really had no idea
what I wanted to pursue but after discussing it with some coworkers I decided on the Industrial Management Program at Tidewater
Community College. My basis
for this lies in my post military career aspirations. I'm sure I will end up
in some sort of industrial setting whether a nuclear power plant or even the manufacturing industry. Whatever I choose
will have something to do with industry.
Another
major factor in the decision to follow this curriculum was a significant amount of my military experience directly transferred! I have been very busy the last two years, completing numerous classes in pursuit
of this degree. I am in my final semester and plan to graduate this fall. I am seriously considering pursuing a second degree in Quality Management. It seems once you start taking classes it sort of gets into your blood!
Other than spending time with my Family, I enjoy riding my motorcycle, motorcycle camping and working around my
house. Below is a picture of my bike and tent on my most recent trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
