The comments here are pure personal taste, there are single malts to tempt most peoples pallets. My
top four:
Glenfarclas Great single malt, distillery open to the public.
Glengoyne This is a lowland single malt, a short drive from Glasgow, near Loch Lomond (the most beautiful Loch's).
This is my favourite; the unusual thing about it - peat is not used to dry the malt. Entirely 'smoke free' taste, very
smooth. Great tour, small distillery with friendly staff.
Highland Park Islay malt. Very peaty / smokey taste. Strong flavour, delicious. Almost an
exact opposite of Glengoyne, but still very enjoyable.
The Glenlivet Has the claim of being the oldest licensed (legal) distillery in Scotland. Interesting tour.
Very drinkable smooth taste. (Sold in a variety of ages starting at 12 years).
Blended Whiskies: These are blends of malts, in many instances cut with grain alcohol.
Examples: Johny Walker (blend of single Malts).
Bells, Teachers, Grants, and Old Grouse.
Good, but not as distinctive as the single malts.
