Caryl Johnston was born in 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama. She is the author of Consecrated Venom: The Serpent and the Tree of Knowledge (Edinburgh, Scotland; 2000); Earthly Nurturance and Other Stories (Philadelphia, 2003) and several unpublished collections of poetry. She lives in the Philadelphia area with her two sons, Paul and Julian.
