I was raised in Canfield Ohio by my parents John and Stephanie.
My mother Stephanie Althouse always encouraged me to persue my interest in the arts.
As she owned a ceramic shop, "The House of Ceramics - Youngstown, OH",
I grew up around decorative painting on porcelain and china as a result of my mothers influence.
At the age of 12 I received private art lessons with a local noted artist Cheri Mohn of Cheri
Mohn Studios, North Lima, OH.
I was educated in Scratch board, Watercolors, Oils and Acrylics. and many other techniques.
I had the opportunity to work with many different medias.
While I was a sophomore in high school I toured our local commercial arts program at the Mahoning
County Joint Vocational School.
Seeing an opportunity to enhance my artistic abilities, I decided to enroll and spend my last
two years of high school focusing on the specialized training they offered.
I was educated in ad layout and design and illustration. I took an active interest in floral
and fashion illustration. I had several pieces entered into sholastics art programs. I was also offered outside client projects
and worked with my other team mates on many special assignments including window painting for local businesses for holiday
occasions.
After completing my two years I received the Award of Distinction for the Commercial
Art Program.
After taking only a few months off I decided to persue the Fashion
Illustration program at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.I concentrated my Portfolio towards the Greeting Card Industry.
Upon graduation I was employed by Robin Woods Dolls Inc. also designed home decorative
items on a freelance basis.
While working for a local wireless communications company I
painted and illustrated seasonal windows at their 12 retail store locations.
I was approached by a customer of a store while painting a window mural to
paint a mural at her home, I agreed...
I really enjoyed the experience.
I began to build a customer base of friends and relatives.
After some time I decided to persue painting part time.
About one year after the passing of my mother, my greatest inspiration, I decided to persue
a full time career as a Decorative Mural Artist, following in her footsteps.
To date I have enriched hundreds of homes and businesses with one of a kind creations,
