  • Usually large and loads slowly
  • Need a sound card and speakers to hear (not Mac)
  • Annoying if loads with page

  • small file size
  • easy to learn and use
AIFF-Audio Interchange File Format
  • recorded sound
  • common on Macintosh computers and usable on others
AU - Audio File Format
  • Acceptable sound
  • used by all browsers
  • read by computers
WAV - Windows Audio
  • Good sound quality
  • used by Windows
MP3-Multimedia Protocol v.3
  • near cd sound quality
  • used through browser plug-ins
