Using Multimedia on a Web Page

  1. When linking to multimedia, provide a variety of media formats to ensure that all users have acces to formats they can use.
  2. Inclued the file size in links to large multimedia files to notify user with lowbanwidth connections.
  3. When including multimedia clips in your html document, provide for users with different file format sizes for the different line connections.
  4. The media clips should have the controllers to turn on to give the user the option of veiwing it or not.
  5. In todays internet access and newer browsers, use the embed and applet elements in preference to the object element because of the broader browser support.
  6. To display the movie controls, add about 30 pixels to the height of the video played by Windows Media Player. For QuickTime Player, add about 20 pixels.
