Step 4. Quilting Supplies

Cut ImagesThese supplies include a sewing maching, quilters' cutting board, rotary cutter and rulers. Decide on your color scheme. Purchase coordinating complementary fabrics to be used as the sashing. Cut the various fabrics into strips measuring 1½ width and length of fabric.
Create the sashing that will join the images. Press fabrics to remove wrinkles. Fold fabrics in half that will allow layers of materials to be cut at one time. Cut the sashing strips 1½ inch wide using the ruler to measure accurately. (I prefer to use the thinner sashing 1¼ inch.) Cut the strips and lay each different color in neat rows. Save some uncut fabric for the border. **See other sashing.

Step 5. Cutting out Individual Photograps

Cutting Images Remove the backing before cutting the fabric sheets. Place one sheet of fabric images on the cutting mat. Use the ruler to cut around each image leaving a quarter of an inch border. Lay all images out to get an idea about the quilt size.

Step 6. Sewing Stage

Sew the sashing between two images creating twos. On the front of the image, place a sash face down. Sew on the back of the image along leaving a quarter inch border. The sash will cover the white fabric border. Next sew the second image to the sashing. Iron this pair, seams inward. Lay the pairs down and pick up another set of two and sew the sashing as in the first set. Continue sewing the sashing between 2 images until all twos are completed. Press seams towards the sashing.
