Step 15. Quilting

Quilting between the photographs with decorative stitches helps to keep the three layers together. Most quilters use the sewing machines with built in decorative stitches. Borrow one, if your maching does not have that feature. On the back of the quilt, add a sleeve for the pole to hang the wall quilt. Add your label with your information, Sign your quilt.

Step 16. Quilt Binding.

Add a thin binding to border the quilt. There a many different bordering techniques but one the easier methods is the square border. Sew the two sides then the tops. Hand stitch the border to the back of quilt.

Step 17. Quilt Sleeve.

The quilt sleeve is placed on the back top of the quilt for ease of hanging on the wall. Use a rod put through the quilt sleeve and hang on the wall.

Step 18. Sign Your Quilt.

Create labels using any graphic program indicating the name of the quilt, date, creator and receiver of this gift.
Other Sashing Variations: Use a quilt block around each picture such as the Log Cabin. Place the picture in the center and stitch fabric strips around each image for a different effect. Consult a quilter or choose any book on quilting from the library for more specific information on borders and finishing the quilt.
