I think there may be some data error due to everything being on the top of the flagpole. One
of these days I need to figure out how to get up there and move the rain gauge and other items down a bit to the middle of
the pole or lower.
SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!!
Please sign my guest book. I don't always check the email address it goes to very often, but
will try to more often.
I am begining to also enjoy sewing on my new Pfaff 2170!
The rain gauge is at an appropriate height now with all it's sensors. I'm not too sure if it is too close to the
house or not, but that is where it is and where everything is staying.
Well, the station is back from Davis. It has been for a while, but it was sitting on the back porch with anemometer
just sitting sideways, so not good wind data.
The anemometer is finally back on top of the flagpole, which finally has its gold ball on top :)
BUT, the rain gauge and temp and other sensors is just sitting on a flagstone on the ground in the middle of the back
yard. It NEEDS to get mounted on something soon!!
But, at least I can see from work a general temp and how much rain we're getting at home :)
Now, to just get the computer and software to start being consistent and stop stopping for the fun of it...
Well, my weather station computer fried 2 months ago. Go figure - in the same room, 3 computers
- one plugged directly into the wall (DD's), one plugged into the surge supressor only portion of Tripplite UPS, and one plugged
into the UPS of the Tripplite. Guess which one fried? So, last night my DH decided to be nice and fix where we had originally
placed the rain gauge (too high - top of 25' flag pole). He invited the help of only our tractor, and of course, since the
tractor doesn't have hands to catch the falling pole, it all came crashing down :( BOO HOO> So, now, no computer, and
the rest of the Vantage Pro2 Plus is in the house. It actually looks OK for the most part. The bucket popped off (looks like
the tabs are broken off), and the wind cups broke off. Also, the lid popped off the computer portion and solar panel - it
was off all night long). The temperature readings and stuff still seem to be transmitting to the console. SO, finally my
questions - should I send this to someone for a check-up? If yes, who? How much should I expect this to cost? Are there
other things I should be looking at? Other questions I should be asking? THANKS SOOOO MUCH!
Well, this is turning into a very expensive wedding present! Bought a Grand Hoop for ~$200 then upgraded machines
again to a Pfaff 2170 for ~$2500 more. I hope I can finish it in time and then post a photo :)
I have my new Pfaff 2134!! So far, I have been sewing with it - I LOVe it!! I have yet to do any embroidery
with it, but have been spending too much time on-line downloading free patterns for when I finally figure out what i am doing.
After much ado, I was finally able to return my Viking machine. I ordered a Pfaff 2134 that comes with lots of
stuff, including software. I should be getting it in about a week - I CAN"T wait!!!
I am hoping to eventually get my info here in a better format, but this is it for now. My limited time working
on this site is now going to be even more limited as I have a new sewing embroidery machine!
