WHY CATHOLIC?  is a program many in our parish experienced and enjoyed during Lent this year. It provides a wonderful opportunity to deepen our understanding and love of our Catholic faith in a community setting.  Sign up for a group on the weekend of September 16 - 17.  New groups will be forming.   Groups meet once a week for six weeks, beginning the week of October.8.  If you have any questions or wish more information, call Sister Joan, 232-8137.

WHY CATHOLIC?

Why Catholic? is an adult faith formation program, solidly based in Scripture and Tradition.  This program was developed by the RENEW Office in response to the call of Pope John Paul II to embark on a New Evangelization.  The Bishops of the United States reaffirmed this call in their statement, Go and Make Disciples.  Holy Trinity Parish, along with other parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Newark, and indeed throughout the country, is planning to focus our efforts and attention on evangelization.  The command of Jesus is very clear regarding the responsibility of all the baptized to share, live, and proclaim our Catholic faith.

Early in the New Year, we will begin the process of forming small groups, which will meet for six weeks, beginning the week of February 26.  A Planning Team of our parish has been meeting together with members of St. Helen’s Parish to prepare for launching Why Catholic? jointly in both parishes.

Why Catholic? offers an opportunity for each of us to deepen and grow in our faith in  a prayerful, small community setting.  You will be asked in the months ahead to participate in a small faith community, to consider being a small group leader, or to host a small group in your home.

Watch the Bulletin for further information about Why Catholic? and how you can become involved.  Or you may call Sister Joan Connelly at Holy Trinity Rectory, 232-8137.  In the weeks ahead, please pray that many will decide to participate in this experience of learning about, sharing and living our Faith.
