The Ministry of Leadership Development calls
forth, affirms and empowers the diverse gifts, talents and abilities of young people in our faith community. Leaders are formed
through monthly meetings, specialized trainings, and a leadership retreat. The Leaders function as Peer Ministers in
our Junior High and High School Catholic Youth Organizations. Peer Ministers also comprise our Retreat Teams for the four
retreat opportunities that our parish offers it’s young people each year. As well Peer Ministers lead in service projects,
fundraisers and prayer events.
HS and Jr. High Peer Ministers are responsible for the weekly CYO meetings.
Team members collaborate with an Adult Advisor to develop the content of each CYO meeting. Team members research relevant
topics, design community building and personal growth activities, facilitate group discussions, invites, empowers and challenges
other young people to participate in the life, mission and work of the faith community.
As well, Team members collaborate with an Adult Advisor to plan and implement
the retreat experience. Retreat members give presentations, facilitate discussion groups, coordinate activities, and provide
worship and prayer experiences.
Young people who are interested in serving as Peer Ministers need to complete an application and be interviewed.
Applicants must apply by July 8, 2009.
