A POET AMONG US

I am a poet among us.

I write what I envision

and feel from the heart,

of people, places and things that move me,

as I write each and every part.

I am a poet among us.

I feel what you feel,

except that I express it in the way I

see, through my eyes and eyes alone.

I am a poet like other poets,

who writes down true emotions and feelings in words,

except that my dreams are my very own.

I dance to a different beat,

of voices I hear, of people I once knew,

whispering my name in the wind in silent baritones.

I dream of places I’ve seen

and find the beauty of the memories it brings.

I am a poet among us.

I dream the dreams I once knew

and things I’ve experienced and lived my whole life through.

Some happy, some sad, some funny, some bad,

but these are the things I’ve experienced as I write them down on a pad.

I am a poet among us,

I am no different than you,

except I am the poet chosen by the universe,

to write sweet songs about you.
