Erik Engquist founded this column in 1994 and wrote it until 1996 when he left for four years of daily
newspaper reporting in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He resumed writing Brooklyn Politics in April 2002 and continued
through May 2005 , when he accepted a position at Crain's New York Business reporting on city and state politics and government.
