Lodging:
We've looked into rates at the hotels listed below. Some have a
discounted rate; some are inexpensive to begin with. If you are not familiar with Durham, I really recommend choosing
from one of the hotels listed below; Durham has some very sketchy neighborhoods that are near the wedding site, and trust
me, you don't want to pick the wrong hotel.
Homestead Suites:
This hotel is near the ceremony and reception sites, and is located adjacent to a shopping center which
includes a grocery store, drug store, movie theater, and the all-important Starbucks. All rooms have a kitchen
with frig, microwave, and stove. The Super Target is just down the street. The website shows nice floorplans and virtual
tours of the the regular rooms. To see the larger rooms, click on "Check Rates" after entering the date you want to
stay. Here are the rates they quoted us:
Studio Suite: Queen Bed
$42.99
Studio Suite: King Bed
$49.99
Studio Suite: Two Double Beds
$55.99
Deluxe Studio Suite: King Bed & Queen Sofa $55.99
Two Room Suite: King Bed & Queen Sofa
$75.99
Two Room Suite: Two Queen Beds
$85.99
To get the discounted rate, call them (don't book online) and
be sure to mention that you're here for the Seibert-Peterson wedding when booking your room.

Extended Stay:
Another nearby hotel, the rooms here include a small kitchen. It's close to the wedding
site, and there are several restaurant options very nearby. A grocery store and Super Target are just a
hop, skip, and a jump across a 4-lane divided highway, so take your car. They don't block rooms, but the regular rate
is $54/day, $250/week (double occupancy). This is the "University" location (there are others in Durham but they're
further away).

Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club:
For our guests looking to spend a little extra for something nice, we recommend you check out our registry...
JUST KIDDING!!! The Washington Duke is Durham's nicest full-scale hotel, and with "Duke" in
the name, you know it can't be bad. The hotel features a restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and also
a championship golf course. Currently they're running a Memorial Weekend special, for Saturday through Tuesday
(5/29-6/1), $129 a night. Regularly the rooms run from $149/night for a basic room, to $1000/night for a 2-room suite.

Local Restaurants:
Some places to eat that are near the hotels listed above...
Kurama. Japanese Hibachi Steak House. This was
called Kyoto when I was at Duke, and it was our favorite. Basically you get any combination of steak, chicken, shrimp,
or vegetables, cooked right in front of you, with knives chopping and flying all over the place. A good chef will make
a volcano out of onions, so don't lean over the grill or you'll loose those eyebrows. A great chef will make a bunny
out of ebi (a shrimp) and give it to the cutest person at the table. You can't not have fun here, unless you
forget to make a reservation!

Romano's Macaroni Grill. They probably have one where
you live. If not... Italian chain, but better than Olive Garden. Pretty good menu, lots of choices, everyone's
happy. Wine by the jug. Plus, there's usually a roving musician to entertain you. Most often it's a soprano
who at some point in the evening is always asked to sing "Happy Birthday," only she does it at an octave you'd previously
thought inhuman.

Grady's American: As the name suggests, American cuisine.
Like Houston's or TGIFriday's, only with a quieter, and very dark, interior. The desserts are extreme, and there is
interesting Duke art on the walls.

China Buffet: I don't need to explain this one to you.
The food here is pretty good, for a buffet, and the crab legs are the best you'll get in NC. Yes, I realize
that's counterintuitive, but trust me. Best crab legs.

Four Square: A fancier option. This is an old Durham
home that was very recently converted into a very nice restaurant. Don't let the neighborhood fool you, it's great inside.
And that giant cow on the roof of the convenience store across the street is a Durham Landmark. Ahh, Durham.

Pao Lim: Fancy Asian-Themed cuisine. Quiet atmosphere.

Other Things To Do in Durham...
If you've got a little extra time on your hands, and you're looking for
something to do, here are a few ideas:
Museum of Life and Science
Features a kid-oriented hands-on exhibition hall with a tornado machine
and some NASA artifacts. A small animal exhibit inside includes a racoon, snakes, and birds. Outdoors section
includes a petting zoo and a butterfly house. Open daily until 5pm.

Durham Bulls Athletic Park
The Bulls will be playing the Syracuse Skycheifs (from Toronto), May
29 - June 1. Tickets are cheap, around $4 - $7. See the giant "HIT BULL: WIN STEAK"sign in the outfield; the original,
from the movie Bull Durham, is spending its retirement on the concourse level of the park. Note that the stadium
the movie was filmed at, the original Durham Athletic Park, is located about a mile away on West Corporation Street.
The Bulls moved to the new, fancy park in 1994, and it's a great place to spend a warm summer afternoon.

West Point on the Eno
The Eno is a small river running through the Northern part of Durham.
This park offers a lot of great picnic spots and walking paths. Take your shoes off and wade around a bit.
