I've loved movies ever since I was a kid, when my dad used to take me
to the local movie theater he managed on weekends. Not only did I get free
popcorn but I could see movies as many times as I wanted.
Also, my mom was
addicted to movie magazines, which were scattered all over the house. Yes, I
kept up to date with what "Liz and Dick" were doing while filming Cleopatra.
And I still sneak guilty glances at the magazines at the grocery store
checkout line.
I started
collecting DVD movies shortly after the technology was introduced. Now DVD is widespread and my collection has grown. I
especially enjoy the way I can rent and see movies that I never would have
seen before. I can also buy, as my own, movies I love and can watch again
whenever I want.
The majority
of the DVDs reviewed here are Region 1. I have not attempted to provide
technical details about audio and video features, nor do I dwell excessively
on extras unless I see something that really stands out. For me, the movie's
the thing. Now and then, I throw in a movie I've seen in a theater, or a book
review, just to spice things up.
